Kūkulu Transfer Student Program
Our Kūkulu Transfer Student Bridge program is geared towards empowering our Native Hawaiian Transfer students with the resources, relationships, and opportunities for success.
Our program provides transitional support for transfer students through funding resources, peer mentorship, tailored workshops Native Hawaiian transfer students with on-campus resources, networking opportunities with Hilo campus and community organizations.
Funding Opportunities:
- $3,000 scholarship for Fall 2022-Spring 2023 academic year
- Optional Student Employment Opportunities with Kīpuka Native Hawaiian Student Center
Eligibility:
- Transfer student (entered UH Hilo Fall 2021, Spring 2022, or entering Fall 2022)
- Preference given to Native Hawaiian students
- Must be a degree-seeking student and plan to enroll full-time at UH Hilo for the 2022-2023 academic year
- Minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA
Participant expectations and responsibilities:
Summer
- Attends a summer bridge program providing transfer student support and resources
Fall and Spring Semester
- Receives scholarship ($3,000 for AY 22-23)
- Attends Kūkulu hosted workshops per semester
- Attends 2 advising meeting per semester with Transfer Support Concierge
- Optional: Student employment opportunity with Kīpuka Native Hawaiian Student Center
